Increase of the VAT Registration Threshold in 2025

Starting 1 January 2025, Slovenia will increase the mandatory VAT registration threshold.
The new threshold is expected to rise to EUR 60,000 of annual turnover, as part of the EU-wide harmonisation of VAT rules and a measure intended to ease the burden on micro-entrepreneurs.

Businesses remaining below this threshold can continue operating as small taxpayers and issue invoices without VAT, except in specific transactions. Those approaching the new limit should monitor their revenue and prepare for a timely transition into the VAT system.

When is voluntary VAT registration beneficial?
For companies working mainly with other VAT-registered businesses, voluntary registration may be an advantage – especially due to input VAT deduction.
