Businesses have been calling for simpler procedures for years
Administrative burdens, lengthy procedures and frequently changing rules have long been among the challenges highlighted by Slovenian entrepreneurs.
At this year’s Forum of Crafts and Entrepreneurship, considerable attention was therefore given to improving the business environment. Among the key priorities highlighted were reducing administrative burdens, accelerating procedures for obtaining work permits and creating a more predictable regulatory environment.
Why does reducing bureaucracy matter?
For a business, administration is not only a matter of time. Every additional record, report, form or procedure also represents a cost.
This is particularly noticeable in small and medium-sized businesses, where administrative tasks are often handled directly by management, accounting departments or other employees rather than by dedicated administrative teams.
Simplifying procedures could therefore allow companies to devote more time and resources to their core business activities, development and growth.
Faster work permits are also important
A shortage of qualified workers remains an important challenge for many Slovenian businesses.
Faster procedures for employing foreign workers could therefore be particularly valuable in industries where companies struggle to find suitable employees on the domestic labour market.
For businesses, however, the key question will be which of the announced measures will actually become law and when they will take effect.
